RTIA places a significant focus on the practical application of learned concepts to help bridge the gap between theory and practice, allowing learners to directly apply their newfound knowledge in their day-to-day roles within recovery communities.

The program is developed with an emphasis on engaging and digestible content, suitable for individuals at various stages of their industry careers, including those at the beginning of their professional journey in recovery communities.

Recognizing the diverse educational backgrounds and experience levels of the recovery community workforce, RTIA employs a pedagogical approach that is adaptable to all learning levels. This ensures that each participant, regardless of their prior knowledge or skills, finds the learning both challenging and achievable.

The program is designed to be engaging and digestible, incorporating a mix of interactive learning methods. These include multimedia content, practical exercises, case studies, and group discussions, aimed at keeping learners engaged and facilitating better retention of information.

RTIA will support the learner journey across stages:

Foundational Stage: Introduces the basics of the Alberta Model and recovery community operations, ideal for newcomers and those seeking to solidify their foundational knowledge.

Developmental Stage: (program is in development) Will build on the basics, introducing more complex concepts and practices, suitable for staff ready to take on more challenging aspects of their roles.

Specialization Pathways: (program is in development) Will offer specialized learning tracks for specific job functions, enabling staff to gain expertise in areas like Clinical Excellence, Recovery Support, or Leadership & Operations.

RTIA will make efforts to raise public awareness and understanding of recovery-oriented concepts. Content targeted towards the general public is currently in development, including an introduction to the Alberta Model and the fundamental concepts of recovery.

Content for the greater community will be designed to be accessible and informative for viewers with no prior knowledge of recovery models, using storytelling and real-world examples.

RTIA will equip operators with the essential training and competencies needed for the successful management and operation of Alberta’s recovery communities. Our fellow-Albertans afflicted directly or indirectly by substance use disorder deserve the highest standards of care.

Our programs will enhance the overall competency and on-the-job performance of service providers, not only within the facilities but also in associated programs and services that form the continuum of care before and after residential intervention in support of sustainable lifelong recovery outcomes.
